Scarsdale summers usually run on quiet muscle memory. Farmers market on Sunday, band at Chase Park on Thursday, sidewalk sale sometime before Labor Day. What makes 2026 different is that the year marks both the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the 325th anniversary of Scarsdale, and the Village has quietly layered new programming on top of the standing calendar. If you already live here, this is the summer to actually string the free nights together instead of catching one and missing three.
Here is how the week reads if you follow the Village's own calendar.
Thursdays belong to the Westchester Band
The Chase Park concerts are the piece of the summer that outsiders never quite know about. The Westchester Band presents a series of free "concerts under the stars" annually, sponsored principally by the Scarsdale Department of Parks and Recreation, local merchants, and by donations from the concert-going public. The series has run out of Chase Park for decades, and the format has not really changed: bring a lawn chair or blanket, and picnic dinner, and concerts are held rain or shine.
The band also anchors the Village's Fourth of July programming. Independence Day is celebrated at the Scarsdale Pool Complex with a patriotic performance by the Westchester Band followed by a fireworks display. If you have never done fireworks from the pool deck, it is worth the walk over from Heathcote at least once.
Fridays that move around the Village
The Party in the Park series is the piece most residents underuse, probably because it rotates locations and people forget which park is up next. The 2026 schedule from the Village's Special Events page:

The format is the same at each: live music, entertainment, face painting, ice cream truck and more, with everyone encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair, and no dogs or alcohol in the park.
The rotation is the point. Willow Playground pulls in a different crowd than Hyatt, and Hyatt on August 14 tends to be the send-off before school starts. If you have kids who are transitioning between age brackets, a summer of hitting all four is the easiest way to see who your neighbors actually are outside of school pickup.
Sunday mornings at Boniface Circle
The farmers market is the most reliable thing on the calendar. The Scarsdale Farmers Market returns for the 2026 season on May 3, taking place every Sunday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in downtown Scarsdale through November.
Two things worth knowing if you are new to the market or have gotten into the habit of skipping it. First, the 8:30 open is meaningful. Bread and pastry vendors sell through their best inventory by roughly 10:30, so the difference between an 8:45 arrival and an 11:15 arrival is not "how crowded is it" but "what is actually left." Second, the market shares the Boniface Circle footprint with the sidewalk sale later in the summer, which means anyone who knows the downtown grid on a Sunday morning already knows how the biggest three days of the retail year will lay out.
The long weekend that turns downtown into a street
Speaking of. The 2026 Scarsdale Sidewalk Sale returns July 30 to August 1. For three days, downtown Scarsdale transforms into a pedestrian-friendly shopping destination, with businesses lining Boniface Circle, offering an atmosphere filled with shopping, discovery, and community connection.
If you have lived here for a few summers, the practical read is this: the Thursday–Saturday window is the one time all year when the downtown merchants price to move seasonal inventory, and it is also the easiest weekend to introduce out-of-town guests to the Village without any of it feeling staged. Park once, walk everything, and if you time it right, the Party in the Park at Crossway Field on July 10 is close enough on the calendar to feel like the same arc of programming.
Where to land before or after
Two restaurants have opened Scarsdale-specific chapters worth knowing about, and both are within walking distance of the concert and market footprint.
Micheline, on Scarsdale Avenue, is the one to know if you have not yet been. Micheline is a French Bistro from Eleven Madison Park alum and Scarsdale native Jonathan Aubrey, and the restaurant runs a happy hour Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. That Sunday-through-Thursday window is useful. It slots cleanly against a Thursday Chase Park concert (early drinks, walk to the park by 7:30) and against a Sunday farmers market morning that turns into a lazy afternoon.
Sapori, the Italian counterpart on the same short list of village dinners, keeps a slightly later footprint. Current posted hours are Monday through Friday 5:00 to 9:30 PM, Saturday 5:00 to 10:30 PM, and Sunday 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Sapori offers indoor dining, a popular outdoor patio, and bar seating, and guests reference a side or front dining area and sometimes a quieter side room. The patio is the reason to go in July. Book it against a Friday Party in the Park night and you have a full-evening plan that never leaves a two-mile radius.
If you are hosting people who have never been to Scarsdale, the honest sequencing advice is: farmers market Sunday morning, Micheline that same evening, Chase Park the following Thursday. Three touches over five days and they leave with an actual sense of the Village rather than a drive-by impression.
The 325th year, and one civic ask
The anniversary framing matters because it is threading through programming all summer, not just on a single anniversary date. The most concrete example is the July food drive. The Village of Scarsdale launched a community-wide Food Drive for the month of July, in partnership with Feeding Westchester, a leading hunger-relief organization serving Westchester County.
If you are already downtown for the market on any Sunday in July, adding a bag of shelf-stable goods to the run is the lowest-friction version of participating. It is also the version of "civic Scarsdale" that does not require a committee meeting.
A note on how to read the calendar as a resident: the Village's programming is designed to be additive, not competitive. Thursday concerts, Friday Party in the Park, Sunday market, and the late-July sidewalk sale are staggered on purpose. Treat them as a weekly loop instead of four separate items on a to-do list and the whole summer changes shape.
